April 23, 2016 was a memorable date for a number of Team members belonging to the Belgium Super-Region who met up in the magnificent setting of the Abbey of Maredsous.
There were about 600 of us all together, of all ages: some non Team member friends, some French friends including Thérèse and Antoine, the Super-Regional Couple for France-Luxemburg-Switzerland and 550 Belgian Team members (25% of Team members!), who brought along their 220 children and teenagers from 0 to 17 years old.
Besides Mahassen and Georges, the ERI’s representatives, we were very pleased to welcome Monsignor Warin, Auxiliary Bishop of Namur and referent for the family within the Belgian Conference of Bishops. All that resembled a bouquet of multicoloured flowers, within which everyone sparkled with the true joy of the Gospel.
After the Super-Regional couple’s words of welcome, the day began with the presentation of the exhortation, Amoris Laetitia, by our national Team chaplain. Then came To and Zé’s testimonial read by Mahassen and Georges and the morning ended with the heart-rending talk by Anne-Dauphine Julliand.
In the afternoon, after a short presentation of the Tandem teams, we were lucky enough to be able to listen to Abbé Grosjean, who gave us his view on how Christians should be involved in the world.
The day ended with a festive and musical mass that the children too participated in.
Such happiness was obvious all day long: the faithfulness of the elders united with the freshness of all these radiant young couples were a clear demonstration of how alive and dynamic the movement is in Belgium.
In conclusion, this day was enriching and dense and everyone left filled with a message of hope and the contagious joy of belonging to Teams.
