Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>29\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Then God said, \u201cI give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground\u2014everything that has the breath of life\u00a0in it\u2014I give every green plant for food.\u201d And it was so.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>31\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0God saw all that he had made,\u00a0and it was very good.\u00a0And there was evening, and there was morning\u2014the sixth day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Genesis \u2013 Chapter 2<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote><p><sup>18\u00a0\u00a0<a name=\"gen2\"><\/a><\/sup>The\u00a0Lord\u00a0God said, \u201cIt is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><sup>19\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>Now the\u00a0Lord\u00a0God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals\u00a0and all the birds in the sky.\u00a0He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called\u00a0each living creature,\u00a0that was its name.<\/p>\n<p><sup>20\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.<\/p>\n<p>But for Adamno suitable helper\u00a0was found.<\/p>\n<p><sup>21\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>So the\u00a0Lord\u00a0God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep;\u00a0and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man\u2019s ribsand then closed up the place with flesh.<\/p>\n<p><sup>22\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>Then the\u00a0Lord\u00a0God made a woman from the rib\u00a0he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.<\/p>\n<p><sup>23\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>The man said, \u201cThis is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called\u00a0\u2018woman,\u2019 for she was taken out of man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><sup>24\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united\u00a0to his wife, and they become one flesh.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Tobit \u2013 Chapter 7<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote class=\"orange rightquote\"><p><strong><sup>6\u00a0<a name=\"tobi7\"><\/a><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0At that Raguel got up, and with tears of joy in his eyes he kissed Tobias.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Then he said, \u201cGod bless you, my child. Your father is a good and noble man. What a terrible tragedy that such an honest and generous man should have lost his sight! He threw his arms around Tobias&#8217; neck and wept on his shoulder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0His wife Edna and his daughter Sarah also wept for Tobit. Raguel gave Tobias and Raphael a warm welcome and had one of his rams slaughtered. After the guests had bathed and were about to sit down to eat, Tobias said to Raphael, \u201cAzarias, my friend, when are you going to ask Raguel to let me marry Sarah?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0But Raguel overheard the question and said to Tobias,<br \/>\n<strong><sup>10\u00a0\u201c<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Eat and drink something first and enjoy yourself this evening. You have the right to marry Sarah, and I cannot let anyone else marry her, because you are my closest relative. But I must tell you the truth, my son.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0I have already given her to seven men, all of them relatives. Each one died on his wedding night, as soon as he entered the bedroom. But now, my son, have something to eat and drink. The Lord will take care of you both.Tobias replied, \u201cI won&#8217;t eat or drink until you give me your word.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Raguel agreed. \u201cCertainly I will,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cI will give her to you just as the Law of Moses commands. God in heaven has arranged this marriage, so take her as your wife. From now on, you belong to each other. Sarah is yours today and forever. May the Lord of heaven keep both of you safe tonight. May he be merciful and kind to you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Then Raguel called his daughter. When she came in, he took her by the hand and gave her to Tobias with his blessing, \u201cTake her to be your wife according to the teachings in the Law of Moses. Take her safely with you to your father&#8217;s house. May the God of heaven give you a happy life together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Raguel asked his wife to bring him a blank scroll so that he could write out the marriage contract. Edna brought him the scroll, and Raguel wrote out the agreement, saying that Sarah was given to Tobias according to the teachings in the Law of Moses.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Tobit \u2013 Chapter 8<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote class=\"orange rightquote\"><p><sup><br \/>\n4\u00a0\u00a0<a name=\"tobi8\"><\/a><\/sup>When Tobias and Sarah were alone behind closed doors, Tobias got up from the bed and said to his wife, \u201cGet up, dear. Let&#8217;s pray for the Lord to be merciful and to protect us.\u201d<strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Sarah got up so that they could pray together and ask God for his protection. Then Tobias prayed: God of our ancestors, you are worthy of praise. May your name be honoured forever and ever by all your creatures in heaven and on earth.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0You created Adam and gave him his wife Eve to be his helper and support. They became the parents of the whole human race. You said, It is not good for man to live alone. I will make a suitable helper for him.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Lord, I have chosen Sarah because it is right, not because I lusted for her. Please be merciful to us and grant that we may grow old together.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Then they both said Amen<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0and went to bed for the night.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Proverbs \u2013 Chapter 31<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote class=\"blue leftquote\"><p><strong><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0<a name=\"prov31\"><\/a>A wife of noble character\u00a0who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Her husband\u00a0has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>15\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>17\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>18\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>19\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>20\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>21\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>22\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>23\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders\u00a0of the land.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>24\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>25\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>26\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>27\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>28\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>29\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0\u201cMany women do noble things, but you surpass them all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the\u00a0Lord\u00a0is to be praised.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>31\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Honour her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise\u00a0at the city gate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Song of Songs<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h5><strong>Chapter 2<\/strong><\/h5>\n<blockquote class=\"rightquote\"><p><strong><sup>8<a name=\"song2\"><\/a>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>The voice of my beloved! If a man would give for love All the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Sirach &#8211; Chapter 26<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote class=\"orange leftquote\"><p><strong><sup>1<a name=\"sirac\"><\/a>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>The husband of a good wife is a fortunate man; he will live twice as long because of her.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0A fine wife is a joy to her husband, and he can live out his years in peace.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>A good wife is among the precious blessings given to those who fear the Lord.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Whether such men are rich or poor, they will be happy and always look cheerful.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0A gracious wife is her husband&#8217;s delight; her abilities make him a stronger man.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0A wife who doesn&#8217;t talk too much is a gift from the Lord. Such restraint is admirable beyond words.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>15\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0A modest wife has endless charm; it is a quality too precious to measure.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0The beauty of a good wife in her well-kept home is like the noonday sun shining in the Lord&#8217;s sky.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Psalm 127<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote class=\"blue rightquote\"><p><strong><sup>1\u00a0<a name=\"psalm\"><\/a><\/sup><\/strong>Blessed are all who fear the\u00a0Lord, who walk in obedience to him.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>You will eat the fruit of your labour; blessings and prosperity\u00a0will be yours.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children\u00a0will be like olive shoots around your table.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the\u00a0Lord.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>May the\u00a0Lord\u00a0bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>May you live to see your children\u2019s children peace be on Israel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>St Mark\u2019s Gospel \u2013 Chapter 10<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote><p><strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0<a name=\"mark\"><\/a>\u201cBut at the beginning of creation God \u2018made them male and female.\u2019<br \/>\n<sup><br \/>\n<\/sup><strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0\u2018For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0and the two will become one flesh.\u2019\u00a0So they are no longer two, but one flesh.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>St John\u2019s Gospel \u2013 Chapter 2<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote><p><strong><sup>1<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0<a name=\"john\"><\/a>On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee.\u00a0Jesus\u2019 mother\u00a0was there,<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0When the wine was gone, Jesus\u2019 mother said to him, \u201cThey have no more wine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0\u201cWoman,\u00a0why do you involve me?\u201d\u00a0Jesus replied.\u00a0\u201cMy hour\u00a0has not yet come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0His mother said to the servants, \u201cDo whatever he tells you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing,\u00a0each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Jesus said to the servants,\u00a0\u201cFill the jars with water\u201d; so they filled them to the brim.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Then he told them,\u00a0\u201cNow draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They did so,<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.\u00a0He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0and said, \u201cEveryone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs\u00a0through which he revealed his glory;\u00a0and his disciples believed in him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>First Letter of St Paul to the Corinthians \u2013 Chapter 13<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote class=\"orange rightquote\"><p><strong><sup>1<a name=\"paul13\"><\/a><\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0If I speak in the tongues\u00a0of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0If I have the gift of prophecy\u00a0and can fathom all mysteries\u00a0and all knowledge, and if I have a faith\u00a0that can move mountains,\u00a0but do not have love, I am nothing.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0If I give all I possess to the poor\u00a0and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,\u00a0but do not have love, I gain nothing.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Love is patient,\u00a0love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking,\u00a0it is not easily angered,\u00a0it keeps no record of wrongs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Love does not delight in evil\u00a0but rejoices with the truth.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Love never fails.
